SINGAPORE:Singapore’s Quah Zheng Wen clocked a time of 1:56.42in the heats of the 200m butterfly at the Tokyo Aquatics Centreon Monday (Jul 26),missing out on a spot in thesemi-finals.
He finished 22nd out of 38 overall.
Quah finished second in his heat, which was won byNorway’sTomoe Zenimoto Hvas with a time of 1:56.30.
Speaking to reporters after his heat, Quah said he was “disappointed”.
“I think I’m probably going to be on the outside looking in again,” he said of missing out on the semi-finals.
“This is the fastest that I’ve gone … since the last Olympics … it’s been a little bit of a journey figuring out how to train and practise for this race,” Quah said.
“I wish things could’ve gone better but … that’s the beauty of sport, you never know what can happen.”
